Laser Bracket

This bracket was designed for use with Howie Glatter’s SkyPointer™ as shown in the January 2002 issue of Sky and Telescope magazine. The green laser SkyPointer™ can be found at Howie Glatter’s web site www.skypointer.net

The bracket mounts in the second hole of the sky window binocular support post as shown.
The knob allows the bracket to be adjusted to aim parallel to the binocular field against the mirror then tightened into position. An internal O-ring provides a grip on the laser barrel to prevent the laser from sliding through. Simply insert the laser pointer and push it into the bracket until the laser switch is in the neutral position as shown.

In this position, the laser switch can be momentarily pressed and a rough altitude adjustment can be made. Pushing the laser further will engage the switch against the forward section of the bracket turning the laser on.

The bracket also makes use of the fact that laser pointers are not perfectly co-axial. With the laser in the forward position, ( switch engaged under the forward bracket section) , the laser barrel can be rotated in the bracket and laser will sweep a circle in the sky. You can therefore, make azimuth adjustments to coincide with your field of view center.

Note that this bracket worked with our 9x60, 7x50 and 15x70 binoculars by moving the support arm into the forward position to allow the laser to reach the horizon.
The support arm can be adjusted forward by loosening the t-bolt under the support block and sliding it forward in the slot.

Although made as universal as possible, it may not be compatible with all styles of binoculars. With all our products, we offer a 30 day trial period.
