The Best of Hi and Lois by Mort Walker and Dik Browne
If you want to see truly great cartoon art, get this book! It’s a 40 year retrospective of the Hi and Lois comic strip, but more importantly, it’s a tribute to the genius of Dik Browne’s cartoon art! When it comes to composing a comic scene, no one is better than Mr. Browne. The book also gives insight to the work habits and inspiration of Mort Walker (Beetle Bailey). A real inside look at how these two cartooning greats worked. This is another book I keep within reach. I find studying Dik Browne’s cartoon artwork to be keenly helpful.
